Professor Bashiru Ademola Raji is a Professor of Soil Science from the University of Ilorin. He had his First Degree in Geology from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife), Nigeria. He had his Masters Degree and Ph.D in Geology and Soil Science respectively from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. He also has a Post-graduate diploma in Soil Survey from the ITC, Enschede , The Netherlands.

With over 25 years of enviable teaching, research and consultancy in his field, Prof. Raji is a devoted and committed teacher who has taught a number of courses in Soil Sciences and Geology at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria; University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria; Uthman Dan Fodio University, Zaria and University of Ilorin on visiting appointments. He has supervised 10 PhD, 11 MSc. And 20 B.Sc theses.He has published numerous papers in many scientific journals of international standing spreading across the US, the UK, Belgium, India, Pakistan, the Netherlands and Nigeria.

Prof. Raji has been a speaker at national and international seminars and conferences, among which are the International Conference on Desertification, 2002 (Cape Town, South Africa); the 18th World Congress of Soil Science, 2006 (Philadephia, USA) and the 4th Sino-African Agricultural Education Workshop, 2007 (Beijing, China). He is the Vice-Chancellor of Fountain University, Osogbo, Nigeria.
